What is the difference between a “user” and a “contact” in P3?

Here are a few definitions:

  • User normally has access to all tips in P3.
  • Contact is a member of recipient in P3 and can only see tips that are assigned to the their recipient.
  • Recipient is typically a task force, a investigative unit, or a school.
  • Recipient Group is typically a law enforcement office that contains a task force or investigative units or a district that is a collection of schools.

Note: It is possible to have a contact be a member of multiple recipients as described in this video.  It is best to use something like “Drug Unit” for the recipient name and “John Smith” for the contact name.
